Goal Setting
Goal-directed consciousness controls the force fields of existence.
Goals are dreams with a deadline. Goal setting highlights your sense of touch because the process of goal setting requires that you write them down. Goals setting is enhanced when the goals you set are Super S.M.A.R.T. goals (here super means more that just realistic and achievable).
Create Super S.M.A.R.T. Goals
the roots create the fruits
you create the routes to your fruits
"You can't solve a problem with the same mind-set that got you into the problem in the first place." ~ Albert Einstein
First - Be very very clear about what you want - Define it.
Once you are certain about what you want you create a plan of action for achieving it. This article assumes that you are clear about what you want - if you have any doubts about what you really want you need to resolve this before you set any goals... the process for having a crystal clear focus on what you want is outlined in Mind Power - The Way of Water
Creating goals is the action step of prioritizing your wants and dreams and writing them in a specific manner so that they are Super S.M.A.R.T. Goals In other words you focus your energies more clearly by providing the precise details of your wants whereby you rewrite them as laser targeted statements called smart goals.
Your goal statement contains the information that in-forms energy into the particular formation that is your goal. Thus give appropriate attention to formulating a clear and accurate goal statement. A good way to remember how a powerful goal statement is written is defined by the S.M.A.R.T. acronym used by many specialists in goal setting (note that I added the 'super' to represent the need to stimulate both hemispheres of your brain).
SMART stands for:
· Specific
· Measurable
· Action-Oriented
· Realistic and UnRealistic
· Timed
Specific - Your Goal is specific so that you know precise quantities and qualities of what you are aiming for. A sharply focused goal statement commands your energies to concretize unerringly as stated.
EXAMPLE #1:
A general goal says:
Get physically fit.
A Super S.M.A.R.T. goal says:
My goal has four parts as follows:
· Join a fitness club this week.
· Exercise with a weights program 3 times per week and run 15 miles per week.
· Be able to run a mile in a relaxed manner on my neighborhood track in under 6 minutes within the next 90 days.
· This or something better will happen in ways that are for the highest good of me and of all concerned.
Measurable - Note that the example above has very definite number quantities, and, that expressions like 'highest good' and 'in a relaxed manner' defines quality - these make your goal measurable. They establish precise criteria for measuring progress and attainment of the goal you set. The measurable feature allows you to easily track your progress with just a weekly review of your goals. And your progress will build even more energy momentum - that's more energy directed toward achieving your goal. The measurable feature of your goal answers the questions. How much? How many? What degree? How will I know when it is accomplished?
Action-Oriented - The means is the end. Your goal has action steps that produce the results you want.
Realistic and UnRealistic. Your goal is something that you really want. Your goal is in accord with all other goals of your life. You may have smaller, larger, lower and higher goals happening at the same time, and yet you never have so many that you lose the focus of your energies or have your energies moving in opposing directions. Your goal has a realistic deadline.
And some of your goals have to be somewhat unrealistic so that you also engage the right hemisphere of your brain. If you only set realistic and achievable goals you remain in the realm of what you already know. Thus you set goals that have the growth factor of something that up to now may have been unthinkable for you. This stimulates your creativity - you will surprise yourself with what you come up with.
Timed - Your goal has a deadline for its completion.
EXAMPLE #2:
A general goal says:
Increase Sales.
A Super S.M.A.R.T. Goal says:
My goal has four parts as follows:
· Increase Sales by 27%
· Increase the moral of the sales force to where disputes are reduced from the 2 per day that are presently occurring to 2 or less per month.
· This goal will be accomplished on or before our annual meeting of June 15.
· This or something better will happen in ways that are for the highest good of me and of all concerned.
EXAMPLE #3:
A general goal says:
2 Million Dollars.
A Super S.M.A.R.T. Goal says:
My goal has three parts as follows:
· To be a self-made person who has a net worth of $2, 000, 000.00
· This goal will be accomplished on or before my 35th birthday.
· This or something better will happen in ways that are for the highest good of me and of all concerned.
Note that this is a goal that you will break down into smaller more manageable steps - that would answer the question - how will I make this $2,000,000.00 - an example of this is as follows:
My goal of, "To be a self-made person who has a net worth of $2, 000, 000.00 that will be accomplished on or before my 35th birthday" is composed of these five inter-related goals as follows:
First:
· Create an ebook that I will sell through Internet Marketing.
· I will complete both my ebook, and the web page to market it, on or before the end of next month.
· This or something better will happen in ways that are for the highest good of me and of all concerned.
Second:
· Create a web page to market my ebook.
· I will complete both my ebook, and the web page to market it, on or before the end of next month.
· This or something better will happen in ways that are for the highest good of me and of all concerned.
Third:
· Repeat the process of creating more information products and web pages to sell them based on what I learn from the first experience.
· My second ebook product will be available 90 Days from today's date.
· I will market it through joint venture relationships that I established while marketing my first ebook and pay-per-click ads.
· This or something better will happen in ways that are for the highest good of me and of all concerned.
Fourth:
· Offer seminars based on the ebooks that I have sold.
· I will promote these seminars through the list of customers I have from the sales of my ebooks, and through joint venture announcements and ads.
· I will offer my first seminar 1 year from today's date.
· This or something better will happen in ways that are for the highest good of me and of all concerned.
Fifth:
· Rewrite my first book and have it published as a conventional book.
· This will be accomplished by building my reputation as outlined in the other four goals of this set.
· I will have my book published and available to the general public within 3 years of today's date
· This or something better will happen in ways that are for the highest good of me and of all concerned.
Please also note that the goal in the example above is for net worth based on financial earnings. When you consider financial goals be sure to consider the four major energetic processes of money, which are earnings, savings, spending, and investing, - clearly define your goal such that these processes are in four-part harmony.
Break down any larger goal into as many smaller, more manageable steps as necessary such that you know with absolute certainty that you can manage the smaller step that you will focus on and take this week.
Define these smaller steps through others that you have successfully taken in the past (do this by recalling and reliving a successful event from your past, and write that just as you had this success in the past that you will have the same success with the step that you are writing now).
Thus you overcome all objections and blocks and know with the same certainty that you will also accomplish your larger goal just as you accomplished each smaller step to it (because that is how you defined the process).
A compliment to your goal setting is to keep a journal-planner where you can actually write your goals and the actions steps that you will take each day as you walk the route that you created. This will allow you to also and review them as necessary and to add or adjust them as necessary to achieve the results you want. Please be clear that what I am speaking about here is not simply a diary in which you record what happened to you today; rather it may be thought of as a personal assistant where you record all your essential information, including your thoughts, ideas, phone numbers, answers to questions, or questions you need answered, record your goals, your objectives, your action steps for a particular day or week, your hopes, concerns... in other words you record the information that assists you in making your dreams a reality.
Your journal-planner is an excellent communication vehicle that lets you harmonize the energies of your conscious and subconscious minds provided that you actually write your goals by hand rather than using some electronic gadget. This is because when you actually write them you engage your subconscious mind through your sense of touch as you write; and the writing process also takes some time - this is a time period in which the deeper energies of your subconscious mind comes to the surface where you can see them more clearly and utilize them more effectively.
Finally, it is not what you plan - it is that you plan. In this light you may decide that you want to earn your livelihood through playing golf, or by playing the piano, writing a novel... whatever you decide, use this goal setting process to create a plan to accomplish whatever it is that you say you want - it is your blueprint to success. Stop reading now. Take the action step of creating your Super S.M.A.R.T. Goals in your journal-planner.
