Satsang
Truth's Company
Truth
cannot be taught yet it can be caught...
The path is formed by walking it.

Satsangs are gatherings where you will find yourself in the company of
like-minded people and in the midst of an experience intended to celebrate,
reveal, and communicate our homeground in a profound way.
Through
attention to that common ground - by whatever name: oneness, consciousness,
Reality, Truth, etc. - who knows what can arise? Welcome to the great
unknown, the great mystery!
These
satsangs are hosted jointly by James Traverse, Jerry Katz, Dustin LindenSmith,
Mandee Labelle and friends.
Mission
Statement
To
understand our true nature.
What
is Satsang?
Satsang
means the company of truth. In Nonduality Satsangs people authentically
come together to hear, express, and value the truth of their nature and
existence. They leave with a lasting insight of their true nature. This
is accomplished through their collective presence, silence, discussion,
meditation, consideration of scriptures/texts from all wisdom traditions,
chanting, movement, music and singing in an atmosphere of celebration,
humor, and joy.
Ananda,
Lord Buddha's long-time personal attendant and monk-disciple, asks Buddha:
"Lord,
is it true what has been said, that good spiritual friends are fully half
of the holy life?"
The
Buddha replied,
"No,
Ananda, good spiritual friends are the whole of the holy life. Find refuge
in the sangha community."
What
is Nonduality and Nonduality Satsang?
Nonduality
means not two. It is the English rendering of Advaita Vedanta
that says there are not two things AND that all things are distinct and
highly individualistic. Nonduality reveals that you are nothing (not a
thing) that can be known or mentally objectified yet it is self-evident
that you are.
Advaita
means without duality. A means without; dvaita means duality.
Vedanta
means the end of the Vedas. Veda means knowledge; and ante means
end. Vedanta is both the means and the end as the knowledge of
the functioning of your true nature and the innocence of understanding
that there is no end to the beginning.
Satsang
means in the company of Truth. Sat means Truth and sang(a) means
company or community, an association or assembly with a common goal, vision
or purpose [Sat-Sangha means Truth's Company].
Why
Nonduality Satsang?
Because
people hunger to know the truth of their existence, and there is no independent
Nonduality Satsang currently offered in Atlantic Canada. The time is right
for this teaching. People around the world are already coming to the teaching
of nonduality through such avenues as Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Buddhism,
quantum theory, the poet Rumi, A Course in Miracles, Thich Nhat Hahn,
Yoga, Reiki, various books and websites, and through their own experiences
and insights.
We
are open to all teachings and teachers of truth and we encourage, support,
develop, and publicize other independent Nonduality Satsangs
